The concert was highly anticipated by us, particularly excited to see the Dobbie Brothers. Musically and acoustically, the last half hour of the show was the best. The show finally had the fans engaged.
The disappointing aspect was the audio-visuals, with no jumbo screens or close-ups of musicians playing instruments. Instead, the audience was presented with a graphic montage.
During at least 3/4s of the concert, the audio quality was poor, making it hard to understand the lyrics over the instruments.
An unusual choice by the Smoothie King Center was the clips of MLK shown while the band performed 'Taking it to the Streets'.
The band altered many of their songs, possibly due to fatigue, but the aging baby boomer audience would have preferred a more simplified version of their classic hits.
Overall, we rated the concert a B minus.
